New Neighbourhood Park in Obstallee
Location: Berlin Spandau
Size: 5,000 m²
Project duration: 2009 – 2014
Client: GSW Berlin
Project type: participation and site planning
The Obstallee residential area needed an outdoor meeting place where everyone would feel welcome. But how could the large empty lawn in the middle of the neighbourhood become a lively meeting place for all generations?
Local residents considered this question together with GSW, the site owner with support from the Spandau district administration and Heerstraße Nord neighbourhood management. In 2009, gruppe F carried out an extensive participation procedure.
The result is a small multifaceted neighbourhood park, which is divided into different zones. Each zone is dedicated to a target group. There is a zone with climbing and calisthenics equipment for older children and young people, a zone with activities for younger children and a large meadow with fruit trees and colourful picnic tables for families. Finally, there are motor skills activities for all age-groups.All the zones are connected by a curved asphalt path, which is also suitable for skating and cycling. The lighting along Obstallee was also renewed during a later construction phase.
